Father's Day - Get Out the Grill

Writer: Marsden BrewerMarsden Brewer

When June brings us Father's Day the media remind us that it's time to get out the grill and get cooking. Whole farmed scallops, especially those with roe, are delicious grilled.

One favorite way to deal with grilling scallops is to put the whole scallops still in their shells on the grill and cook them just until the shells pop open.

But what if grilling is not an option? Get out a heavy frying pan and carefully brown some butter. Then add whole scallops that have been steam shucked. Heat them just enough to warm them in the butter.

Either way that you cooked your scallops, serve them with at bit of browned butter and you have a treat that can't be beat. Ask Dad!
