Island Heritage Trust staff met Marsden Brewer over a delicious lunch of whole farmed sea scallops. They chatted enthusiastically over a casserole of lobster/scallop mac 'n cheese with browned butter scallops for dipping.
IHT Executive director Julia Zell had encouraging ideas on how to spread the story of sustainable, ecologically sound ways share the Brewers' story of appropriate scale scallop farming.
Live scallops came to the party as well- so Marsden demonstrated what grip they have!
You can expect to hear more about wise use of our bays from the land trusts up and down our coasts as they share similar goals with our fishermen seeking to diversify.
